THE NIGHT sweltered hot. There was a light, Where our breath was caught. THE NIGHT Was fast and taut. Searchlamps gave us fright. Crippling, dripping snot, The gleam was all too bright. We stood a pall afterthought, Scanned by the sight. Careless searchers Wrought THE NIGHT.
