"Ideological systems are fictions (Bacon would have said
stage ghosts), novels – but classical novels, packed with plots, crises, good and evil characters (the
novelistic is another thing entirely: a simple unstructured contour, a dissemination of forms,
maya)." – Barthes,
Le plaisir du texte (tr. Miller)
"What language expresses is nonexistent." – Nāgārjuna,
Mūlamadhyamakakārikā (tr. Garfield)
"Rocks, Caves, Lakes, Fens, Bogs, Dens, and shades of death..." – Milton,
Paradise Lost
About
KEEP PLANNING is a cultural apparatus of sober ambition and unglamorous posture. It is named after track A2 of the album
Gymnastics by British techno producer Regis. It is interested in writing which says what can be said. It is interested in the dialectic of pain and statistics. It is interested in rubble piled on top of rubble. It is not interested in entertainment. KEEP PLANNING has a motto: Es hilft nur Gewalt wo Gewalt herrscht.
KEEP PLANNING is edited by David C. Porter, a writer and photographer living in what present legal authority designates as the American Northeast. His own writing can be found
here and
here. He can be found on social media
here and
here. He also maintains the social media accounts for KEEP PLANNING, which can be found
here and
here. Inquiries may be directed to him at

Submissions
Submissions are currently
open. Send previously unpublished work to
submissions@keep-planning.net for consideration. Anonymous and pseudonymous submissions are welcome, as are translations with their rights in order. There are no hard constraints on length or form, beyond those inherent to static HTML as a medium. KEEP PLANNING is primarily interested in texts, but images, sounds, and/or video files will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If your work uses nonstandard formatting, please send it as a pdf attachment; if not, docx is preferred. If you do wish to be credited, by pseudonym or otherwise, include a brief, third-person biographical statement in the body of the message. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please indicate if that's the case.
Generally speaking, submissions not accepted for KEEP PLANNING will receive a form rejection. While KEEP PLANNING aims to respond to all submissions within a reasonable timeframe, this cannot be guaranteed. If you would like response priority in the submssions queue, send $3 to
this address and include a note in your submission email. If you would also like personalized feedback on your work, send $5 for work up to 2500 words. For longer work, the rate is $10 for up to 4500 words, $15 for up to 6500, and so forth.
Money
KEEP PLANNING does not charge submission fees and currently runs at a modest financial loss. As such, there is no payment offered for accepted work. It is unlikely that this will change in the future.
