Logan Berry
Slippage (Forest)
The missing girl resembles the brush
Encoffining her corpse:
Her hair inhabited by spiders
Skin sagging, ripening
Into stones & moss
Golgotha degloved
A sacrament in the hole
In the reliquary of her skull
Satin ribbons round her wrists tremble
With the nettles in the wind
She seeps into the humus
& sticks: a contusion
Darkening,
Everything slowly bends
To blackened carrion & blends
Blends, blends
Her dreams devoured
By fists
Glistening in evening dew
Pale blue & purple phloxes crushed
Under rubber boots
Spill delicious nectar from their heads
Diffused in forest pungence
The soul slips
Religiously, the trees consume
Its residue
& blend blend blend
