Scary Events (A Poem in Six Parts)
The following poem was composed entirely using material found within Missing 411: Western U.S. and Canada by David Paulides and is dedicated to poet and cookbook author Ronald Johnson.
“Scary events”
understand how
horribly things
can go wrong -
the lunacy of
this statement -
something unusual
is occurring.
I was denied -
I don’t think it
can be. please think
about this carefully.
killed and buried in
a highly unique manner.
the victims’ ages
increase with time:
sixteen in 19
83, forty-six
in 1991.
seventy in 2009.
standard abduction
techniques. I started
a review of this
case by looking
at a Google map
of the region and
switched to the
Terrain perspective.
she was going to
pick wildflowers. bus
dispatcher. the
type of guy you’d
go anywhere
with. summer is
a great time for
college students
to escape the
stress of the
academic life
and look for a
wilderness adventure.
“She was employed”
not your typical
city female. notice
the similar dark
complexion and
attractive features
of the two women.
that’s not a usual
description that’s
used when we talk
about people. walking
twenty feet to
a restroom - another
bout of diarrhea.
it’s a mind boggling
scenario. if these
people were traveling
alone, how in the
heck did they get
in the strange
places where their
bones were located?
Answer: they wouldn’t.
it is a very
compelling part
of the movie.
he had seen rabbits,
which excited the boy.
it must have been
a shocking sight
to see a nude
boy’s body. only one
woman is missing
in this group. there
are no females
in any of the
groups. they were the
first females to
have gone missing
in Montana. someone
who at a distance
could be mistaken
for a small man.
one of only two
women. boy with
red hair. it is
believed that
the first white man
stepped foot into
Yosemite Valley
sometime after
1850. the prolif-
eration of mis-
sing boys under ten
continues. this is
not to imply that
the officers did…

she also said she
had seen "little cows".
we need to ask
ourselves where
those cattle were.

just off the creek.

I’m not a great
believer in con-
spiracy theories.
Lemurians live underneath.
Searchers doubted.
A total of twenty
eight psychics assisted
on the case. I
have consulted
with bear experts.
in 2009 there
were 529 "incidents"
involving bears at
the park. I’m not
sure what to think
of the unusual
aspect of several
of the people
being respected
photographers. it
is usually very
slanted toward
one sex and a
segmented age
bracket. I know it
isn't rational to
think a serial
predator is lurk-
ing in the out-
skirts of a ranch,
farm or national
forest waiting for
the opportunity
to take children…
children do not
disappear and
they do not run
off and vanish.
I am not satisfied
with the theory…

I think a para-
digm shift needs
to occur. The flow
travels west. the
path of least
resistance. he also
claimed they
ate leaves and all
slept together in
a hollow log, some-
times drinking water
from a stream. There
is some reason
that so many people
suppress their memories.
a summer vacation
to Grandpa and
Grandma's house
is something many
of us enjoyed
as youngsters. the
underwear had
deteriorated away.
anywhere in North America
where such a
desolate and
beautiful spot
is associated
with the disappear-
ances of so many
good men and boys.
The park service
did not furnish
all the forms
I requested.
you can obtain
a permit from
the USFS to
cut your own tree.
his career ended
in 1971 when
the park service
terminated him
for failing to
trim his hair
and moustache.
this little tidbit
adds a lot to
the investigation.

How did Devil’s Nest
get its name? I’m
not one to be-
lieve in coinci-
dences. I was told
that my books
were not in
enough libraries
to qualify for
the author’s exem-
ption. stimulates
more questions
than answers.
